The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was wearing two coarse Qatari garments. Whenever he sat down and began to sweat, they felt heavy on him. A shipment of cloth then arrived from Syria belonging to a certain Jewish man, so I said, "If only you would send to him and buy two garments from him on credit until a time of ease."He sent word to the man, but the man said, "I know what he wants. He only wants to take my wealth," or "my dirhams."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "He has lied. He knows full well that I am the most fearful of Allah among them and the most faithful in returning what is entrusted."
[Its isnad is sahih]. Nasai also narrated it, 7/294, hadith: 4632 (Sales, chapter on selling for a specified term) from Amr bin Ali Fallas with the same wording. There is also a report on this subject from Ibn Abbas [coming up: 1214], Anas [coming up: 1215], and Asma bint Yazid [Ibn Majah, hadith: 2438]. The statement of Shubah has a sahih chain.
