He went out with the Prophet ﷺ to the prayer ground and saw people engaged in buying and selling. The Prophet ﷺ called out, "Company of merchants!"They responded to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, raising their necks and fixing their eyes upon him.He said, "Merchants will be raised on the Day of Resurrection as wicked transgressors, except for those who fear Allah, act righteously, and speak truthfully."
حدثنا أبو سلمة يحيى بن خلف حدثنا بشر بن المفضل عن عبد الله بن عثمان بن خثيم
أنه خرج مع النبي ﷺ إلى المصلى فرأى الناس يتبايعون فقال يا معشر التجار فاستجابوا لرسول الله ﷺ ورفعوا أعناقهم وأبصارهم إليه فقال إن التجار يبعثون يوم القيامة فجارا إلا من اتقى الله وبر وصدق
[Its chain of transmission is hasan] It was also reported by Ibn Majah in the Book of Trade, chapter on being cautious in trade, hadith no. 2146, from the hadith of Ibn Khuthaym through this same chain, and Ibn Hibban graded it sahih, hadith no. 1095, as did Hakim, 2/6, and Dhahabi.
