The Prophet ﷺ said, "The soul of the believer remains suspended because of his debt until it is paid off on his behalf."
حدثنا محمد بن بشار حدثنا عبد الرحمن بن مهدي حدثنا إبراهيم بن سعد عن أبيه عن عمر بن أبي سلمة عن أبيه
عن النبي ﷺ قال نفس المؤمن معلقة بدينه حتى يقضى عنه
[Its isnad is hasan]. Ibn Majah reported it in the Book of Charities, Chapter on Being Strict Regarding Debt, no. 2413, from the hadith of Ibrahim bin Saad, through the same route. Baghawi graded it hasan, and it has other routes, some of which Ibn Hibban graded sahih, no. 1158.
