The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When a person dies, his place is shown to him morning and evening. If he is among the people of Paradise, then from among the people of Paradise, and if he is among the people of the Fire, then from among the people of the Fire. Then it is said to him, 'This is your place until Allah resurrects you on the Day of Resurrection.'"
حدثنا هناد حدثنا عبدة عن عبيد الله عن نافع
قال رسول الله ﷺ إذا مات الميت عرض عليه مقعده بالغداة والعشي فإن كان من أهل الجنة فمن أهل الجنة وإن كان من أهل النار فمن أهل النار ثم يقال هذا مقعدك حتى يبعثك الله يوم القيامة
Agreed upon by Bukhari and Muslim. Bukhari narrated it in the chapters on funerals, in the chapter on the deceased being shown his place morning and evening, hadith no. 1379, and Muslim, hadith no. 2866, from the hadith of Nafi, with this wording.
