The Prophet ﷺ said, "The funeral prayer is not performed over an infant, nor does he inherit or bequeath, until he cries at birth."

[Its chain of transmission is daif]. Ibn Majah also narrated it in the Book of Funerals, chapter on what has been said regarding the prayer over a child, hadith no. 1508 and 2750, from the hadith of Abu Zubayr by this route, and he narrated it with an unclear transmission formula (anana). The hadith has daif corroborating narrations found in Ibn Hibban, hadith no. 1223, and in Hakim, 4/348-349, and elsewhere.
