The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The deceased is punished by his family's weeping over him."
حدثنا عبد الله بن أبي زياد حدثنا يعقوب بن إبراهيم بن سعد حدثنا أبي عن صالح بن كيسان عن الزهري عن سالم بن عبد الله عن أبيه قال
قال رسول الله ﷺ الميت يعذب ببكاء أهله عليه
Sahih. Nasai also narrated it (4/16, no. 1851) (Funerals, chapter on the prohibition of weeping over the dead) through the hadith of Yaqub with this wording, and it is in Sahih Muslim, no. 927, through the hadith of Abdullah bin Umar from him with this wording.On this subject there are also narrations from Ibn Umar [coming up: 1006] and Imran bin Husayn [Nasai, no. 1855].
