The Prophet ﷺ used to recite in the Zuhr and Asr prayers surahs such as "By the sky containing great stars" and "By the sky and the night-comer," and others like them.
أخبرنا عمرو بن علي قال حدثنا عبد الرحمن قال حدثنا حماد بن سلمة عن سماك
أن النبي ﷺ كان يقرأ في الظهر والعصر بالسماء ذات البروج والسماء والطارق ونحوهما
Its isnad is hasan. Abu Dawud narrated it in the Book of Prayer, chapter on the amount of recitation in Dhuhr and Asr prayer, hadith no. 805, and Tirmidhi narrated it in the Book of Prayer, chapter on what has been said about recitation in Dhuhr and Asr, hadith no. 307, from the hadith of Hammad, transmitted in this manner. It is also found in al-Kubra, hadith no. 1051. Tirmidhi said, hasan sahih, and Ibn Hibban graded it sahih in his Mawarid, hadith no. 465. This hadith has corroborating narrations.
