The Prophet ﷺ led the noon prayer, and a man behind him recited Sabbih isma Rabbika al-Ala. When he finished the prayer, he asked, "Who recited Sabbih isma Rabbika al-Ala?"A man replied, "I did."He said, "I knew that one of you was contending with me over it."
أخبرنا محمد بن المثنى قال حدثنا يحيى قال حدثنا شعبة عن قتادة عن زرارة
صلى النبي ﷺ الظهر فقرأ رجل خلفه سبح اسم ربك الأعلى فلما صلى قال من قرأ سبح اسم ربك الأعلى قال رجل أنا قال قد علمت أن بعضكم قد خالجنيها
Muslim narrated it, Prayer, chapter on the prohibition against the one being led aloud reciting behind his imam, hadith no. 398/48, from Muhammad bin Muthanna with the same chain, and it is also in Kubra, hadith no. 989.
