They mentioned to the Prophet ﷺ their having slept past the prayer, and he said, "There is no negligence in sleep. Negligence is only in wakefulness. So when one of you forgets a prayer or sleeps through it, let him pray it as soon as he remembers."
أخبرنا قتيبة قال حدثنا حماد بن زيد عن ثابت عن عبد الله بن رباح
ذكروا للنبي ﷺ نومهم عن الصلاة فقال إنه ليس في النوم تفريط إنما التفريط في اليقظة فإذا نسي أحدكم صلاة أو نام عنها فليصلها إذا ذكرها
[Sahih] Reported by Tirmidhi, book of Prayer, chapter on what has been said about sleeping through the prayer, no. 177, from Qutayba, through him, and he said, "hasan sahih."
