I prayed with the Prophet ﷺ in Madinah eight rakats joined together and seven rakats joined together. He delayed the Dhuhr prayer and brought the Asr prayer forward, and he delayed the Maghrib prayer and brought the Isha prayer forward.
Bukhari transmitted it in the Chapters on Voluntary Prayers, the chapter on one who does not pray voluntarily after the obligatory prayer, hadith no. 1174, and Muslim in the Prayer of the Traveler, the chapter on combining the two prayers while at home, hadith no. 55/705, from the hadith of Sufyan bin Uyayna, with this same wording. It is also found in the Kubra, hadith no. 376.His statement, "he delayed Dhuhr..." and so on, is an insertion from the words of Jabir bin Zayd Shatha, as found in Sahih Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, and other sources.
