The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade praying after the Asr prayer unless the sun was still high, white, and clear.
أخبرنا إسحق بن إبراهيم قال حدثنا جرير عن منصور عن هلال بن يساف عن وهب بن الأجدع
نهى رسول الله ﷺ عن الصلاة بعد العصر إلا أن تكون الشمس بيضاء نقية مرتفعة
[Its chain of transmission is sahih] Abu Dawud narrated it in the Book of Prayer, chapter on those who granted permission for the two [rakahs] when the sun is high, hadith no. 1274, from the hadith of Mansur bin Mutamir, and it is in Kubra, hadith no. 372.
