Saad owned many vineyards and grapevines, and he had a trusted overseer in charge of them. One season the vines produced a great quantity of grapes, so the overseer wrote to Saad, "I fear the grapes will spoil. If you see fit, allow me to press them into juice."Saad wrote back to him, "When this letter of mine reaches you, leave my estate. By Allah, I will never entrust you with anything again." And he dismissed him from his estate.
أخبرنا سويد قال أنبأنا عبد الله عن سفيان بن دينار
كان لسعد كروم وأعناب كثيرة وكان له فيها أمين فحملت عنبا كثيرا فكتب إليه إني أخاف على الأعناب الضيعة فإن رأيت أن أعصره عصرته فكتب إليه سعد إذا جاءك كتابي هذا فاعتزل ضيعتي فوالله لا أئتمنك على شيء بعده أبدا فعزله عن ضيعته
