A delegation from Abdul-Qays came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and asked him about what vessels they could use for steeping drinks. The Prophet ﷺ forbade them from steeping in gourds, hollowed stumps, vessels coated with pitch, and green-glazed jars.
Muslim reported it, in the Book of Drinks, chapter on the prohibition of steeping dates or raisins in tar-coated vessels and gourds, etc., hadith no. 37/1995, from the hadith of Qasim bin Fadl, with this same chain, and it is also in Al-Kubra, hadith no. 147.
