The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade nabidh made in green earthenware jars.I asked, "What about white ones?"He replied, "I do not know."
أخبرنا محمود بن غيلان قال حدثنا أبو داود قال أنبأنا شعبة عن الشيباني قال سمعت
نهى رسول الله ﷺ عن نبيذ الجر الأخضر قلت فالأبيض قال لا أدري
Bukhari included it in the Book of Drinks, in the chapter on the Prophet's granting permission regarding containers and vessels after the prohibition, hadith no. 5596, from the hadith of Abu Ishaq Sulayman Shaybani with this wording, up to "the green one." It is also found in Sunan al-Kubra, hadith no. 5131. His statement, "I do not know," along with what precedes it, is an interpolation, and Allah knows best.
