The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would pray the dawn prayer, and the women would leave wrapped in their cloaks, unrecognizable due to the darkness.
أخبرنا قتيبة عن مالك عن يحيى بن سعيد عن عمرة
إن كان رسول الله ﷺ ليصلي الصبح فينصرف النساء متلفعات بمروطهن ما يعرفن من الغلس
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Adhan, chapter on the people waiting for the learned imam to stand up, hadith no. 867, and Muslim narrated it in the Book of Mosques, chapter on the desirability of praying dawn prayer early in its first time... to the end, hadith no. 232/645, from the hadith of Malik through this chain. It is also found in Muwatta (Yahya), 5/1, and in Sunan al-Kubra, hadith no. 1528.
