The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever drags his garment out of arrogance, Allah will not look at him."Umm Salama asked, "Messenger of Allah, what should women do with the hems of their garments?"He replied, "They may let them hang down a hand span."She said, "But then their feet would be exposed."He said, "Then they may let them hang down a forearm's length, but no more than that."
أخبرنا نوح بن حبيب قال حدثنا عبد الرزاق قال حدثنا معمر عن أيوب عن نافع
قال رسول الله ﷺ من جر ثوبه من الخيلاء لم ينظر الله إليه قالت أم سلمة يا رسول الله فكيف تصنع النساء بذيولهن قال ترخينه شبرا قالت إذا تنكشف أقدامهن قال ترخينه ذراعا لا تزدن عليه
[Its chain of transmission is sahih] Tirmidhi transmitted it, Clothing, chapter on what has been narrated regarding women trailing their hems, hadith 1731, from the hadith of Abdul-Razzaq, with this chain, and it is in his Musannaf, 11/82, 83, hadith 1984, and its basis is in Sahih Muslim, hadith 2085, and Bukhari, hadith 5783, and others besides them.
