The Messenger of Allah ﷺ distributed some robes but did not give Makhramah anything.Makhramah said, "My son, come with me to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."So I went with him.He said, "Go in and call him for me."I called him, and he came out wearing one of those robes.He said, "I set this aside for you."Makhramah looked at it and put it on.
أخبرنا قتيبة بن سعيد قال حدثنا الليث عن ابن أبي مليكة
قسم رسول الله ﷺ أقبية ولم يعط مخرمة شيئا فقال مخرمة يا بني انطلق بنا إلى رسول الله ﷺ فانطلقت معه قال ادخل فادعه لي قال فدعوته فخرج إليه وعليه قباء منها فقال خبأت هذا لك فنظر إليه فلبسه مخرمة
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Gifts, Chapter on how a slave and property are taken possession of, hadith no. 2599, and Muslim narrated it in the Book of Zakat, Chapter on giving to those whose hearts are to be won over and those whose faith is feared to waver if not given... etc., hadith no. 1058, from Qutayba, with this chain.
