He saw a striped silk garment being sold at the door of the mosque, so he said, "Messenger of Allah, perhaps you should buy this for Fridays and for the delegations when they come to you."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "Only one who has no share in the Hereafter wears this."Later, some similar garments were brought to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he gave one of them to me as a gift.I said, "Messenger of Allah, you have clothed me in it after saying what you said about it?"The Prophet ﷺ answered, "I did not give it to you to wear yourself. I gave it to you so you could clothe someone else with it or sell it."So Umar gave it to a maternal brother of his who was a polytheist.
