Muawiya bin Abu Sufyan reported,

While he was on the pulpit in Madinah, he pulled out a lock of hair from his sleeve and said, "People of Madinah, where are your scholars? I heard the Prophet ﷺ forbid the use of such things, and he said, 'The Children of Israil were destroyed only when their women began using things like this.'"
