The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out wearing a silver ring he had made and said, "Whoever wishes to have one fashioned like it may do so, but do not engrave it with the same inscription as mine."

Bukhari transmitted it in the Book of Clothing, chapter on the Prophet's statement, "No one should engrave the design on his ring," hadith 5877, and Muslim in the Book of Clothing, chapter on the Prophet wearing a silver ring... hadith 2092, from the hadith of Abdul-Aziz, with this same wording. It is also found in Al-Kubra, 9533.
