Sasaah bin Sawhan said to Ali, "Commander of the Faithful, forbid us from what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade you."Ali replied, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade us from the gourd, the green-glazed jar, and barley beer, and from gold rings, wearing silk, and the red saddle-cloth."Abu Abdul-Rahman said, the narration of Marwan and Abdul-Wahid is closer to being correct than the narration of Israil.

قال صعصعة بن صوحان لعلي يا أمير المؤمنين انهنا عما نهاك عنه رسول الله ﷺ قال نهانا رسول الله ﷺ عن الدباء والحنتم والجعة وعن حلق الذهب ولبس الحرير وعن الميثرة الحمراء قال أبو عبد الرحمن حديث مروان وعبد الواحد أولى بالصواب من حديث إسرائيل
