The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The fragrance suitable for men is one whose scent is apparent and whose color is hidden, and the fragrance suitable for women is one whose color is apparent and whose scent is hidden."
أخبرنا أحمد بن سليمان قال حدثنا أبو داود يعني الحفري عن سفيان عن الجريري عن أبي نضرة عن رجل
قال رسول الله ﷺ طيب الرجال ما ظهر ريحه وخفي لونه وطيب النساء ما ظهر لونه وخفي ريحه
[Its chain is daif] Tirmidhi narrated it in the Book of Manners, in the chapter on what has been said about perfume for men and women, via Dawud, from Umar bin Saad Hafri, with the same wording, and he said, hasan. It is also found in Kubra, no. 2787, from the hadith of Abu Hurairah, no. 9408.A man, namely Tufawi, is unknown, as stated in Taqrib and other works.
