My father and I came to the Prophet ﷺ, and he had dyed his beard with henna.
أخبرنا محمد بن بشار قال حدثنا عبد الرحمن عن سفيان عن إياد بن لقيط
أتيت أنا وأبي النبي ﷺ وكان قد لطخ لحيته بالحناء
[Sahih] Reported by Abu Dawud, in Tarajjul, chapter on hair dye, hadith no. 4206–4207, from the hadith of Iyad, and it is also in al-Kubra, hadith no. 9356. Tirmidhi said in hadith no. 2812 that it is hasan gharib. Ibn Khuzayma and Ibn Hibban graded it sahih, hadith no. 1522, as did Hakim in 22/426, 607, and Dhahabi and others.
