The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would cut off the hand for theft of a quarter of a Dinar or more.
أخبرني يحيى بن درست قال حدثنا أبو إسمعيل قال حدثنا يحيى بن أبي كثير أن محمد بن عبد الرحمن حدثه عن عمرة
كان رسول الله ﷺ يقطع اليد في ربع دينار فصاعدا
Bukhari narrated it in "Hudud," the chapter "The saying of Allah Most High, 'As for the thief, male or female, cut off their hands,' etc.," hadith 6791, from the hadith of Muhammad bin Abdul-Rahman with this same chain, and it is also found in "al-Kubra," hadith 7418. Amrah is the daughter of Abdul-Rahman.
