We used to estimate how long the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood during the noon and afternoon prayers. We estimated his standing in the noon prayer during the first two units to be roughly the length of thirty verses, about the length of Surah as-Sajdah, and in the last two units to be about half of that. We estimated his standing in the first two units of the afternoon prayer to be about the length of the last two units of the noon prayer, and his standing in the last two units of the afternoon prayer to be about half of that.
