When the verses concerning usury were revealed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood upon the pulpit, recited them to the people, and then prohibited the trade of wine.
حدثنا محمود بن غيلان قال حدثنا وكيع قال حدثنا سفيان عن منصور عن أبي الضحى عن مسروق
لما نزلت آيات الربا قام رسول الله ﷺ على المنبر فتلاهن على الناس ثم حرم التجارة في الخمر
Sourcing, Bukhari transmitted it in tafsir, chapter, "And if he is in hardship, then let there be postponement until a time of ease," hadith 4543, from the narration of Sufyan Thawri as a suspended chain, and Muslim in musaqah, chapter on the prohibition of selling wine, hadith 1580, from the narration of Mansur through it, and it is in Al-Kubra, hadith 6261.
