Jabir bin Abdullah reported,

I went on a military expedition with the Prophet ﷺ riding a water-carrying camel of ours. He then mentioned the hadith in its full length, and then he mentioned words whose meaning was as follows.The camel became exhausted and could barely move, so the Prophet ﷺ urged it on, and it sprang forward until it was at the head of the army. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Jabir, I see your camel has become quite lively."I said, "Through your blessing, Messenger of Allah."He said, "Sell it to me, and you may keep riding it until you reach home."So I sold it to him, though I was in great need of it, but I felt too shy to refuse him. When we had finished our expedition and were drawing near to Madinah, I asked his permission to hurry on ahead. I said, "Messenger of Allah, I am newly married."He asked, "Did you marry a virgin or a previously married woman?"I said, "A previously married woman, Messenger of Allah. Abdullah bin Amr was killed and left behind young virgin daughters, so I disliked the idea of bringing home a wife like them. I married a previously married woman who could teach and discipline them."He gave me permission and said to me, "Go to your family in the evening."When I arrived, I told my maternal uncle about selling the camel, and he reproached me for it. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ arrived, I went to him in the morning with the camel. He gave me the price of the camel, the camel itself, and a share of the spoils along with the rest of the people.

عن جابر قال

غزوت مع النبي ﷺ على ناضح لنا ثم ذكرت الحديث بطوله ثم ذكر كلاما معناه فأزحف الجمل فزجره النبي ﷺ فانتشط حتى كان أمام الجيش فقال النبي ﷺ يا جابر ما أرى جملك إلا قد انتشط قلت ببركتك يا رسول الله قال بعنيه ولك ظهره حتى تقدم فبعته وكانت لي إليه حاجة شديدة ولكني استحييت منه فلما قضينا غزاتنا ودنونا استأذنته بالتعجيل فقلت يا رسول الله إني حديث عهد بعرس قال أبكرا تزوجت أم ثيبا قلت بل ثيبا يا رسول الله إن عبد الله بن عمرو أصيب وترك جواري أبكارا فكرهت أن آتيهن بمثلهن فتزوجت ثيبا تعلمهن وتؤدبهن فأذن لي وقال لي ائت أهلك عشاء فلما قدمت أخبرت خالي ببيعي الجمل فلامني فلما قدم رسول الله ﷺ غدوت بالجمل فأعطاني ثمن الجمل والجمل وسهما مع الناس
