Instruct your husbands to clean themselves with water after relieving themselves, for I am too shy to tell them so myself. Indeed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to do this.
أخبرنا قتيبة قال حدثنا أبو عوانة عن قتادة عن معاذة
مرن أزواجكن أن يستطيبوا بالماء فإني أستحييهم منه أن رسول الله ﷺ كان يفعله
Sahih. Tirmidhi also narrated it in the Book of Wudu, chapter on what has been said about cleansing with water, hadith (19), from Qutayba, with the same wording, and he said, hasan sahih. It is also found in al-Kubra, hadith (46).Yazid Rishk also narrated it from Muaza, with the same wording (Musnad Ahmad 6/113).
