Ubada bin Samit reported,

Ubada was a veteran of Badr and had pledged allegiance to the Prophet ﷺ that he would never fear the blame of any critic when it came to the cause of Allah. He stood up to address the people and said, "People, you have introduced transactions that I do not recognize. Take note, gold for gold must be exchanged weight for weight, whether as raw bullion or minted coin. Silver for silver likewise, weight for weight, whether as raw bullion or minted coin. There is no harm in selling silver for gold hand to hand, even if the silver is the greater amount, but it cannot be done on credit. Take note, wheat for wheat and barley for barley, measure for measure. There is no harm in selling barley for wheat hand to hand, even if the barley is the greater amount, but it cannot be done on credit. Take note, dates for dates, measure for measure," until he mentioned salt, measure for measure. "Whoever gives more or asks for more has engaged in usury."

وكان بدريا وكان بايع النبي ﷺ أن لا يخاف في الله لومة لائم أن عبادة قام خطيبا فقال أيها الناس إنكم قد أحدثتم بيوعا لا أدري ما هي ألا إن الذهب بالذهب وزنا بوزن تبرها وعينها وإن الفضة بالفضة وزنا بوزن تبرها وعينها ولا بأس ببيع الفضة بالذهب يدا بيد والفضة أكثرهما ولا تصلح النسيئة ألا إن البر بالبر والشعير بالشعير مديا بمدي ولا بأس ببيع الشعير بالحنطة يدا بيد والشعير أكثرهما ولا يصلح نسيئة ألا وإن التمر بالتمر مديا بمدي حتى ذكر الملح مدا بمد فمن زاد أو استزاد فقد أربى
