The Prophet ﷺ permitted the sale of araya by estimation, in quantities of five wasq or less than five wasq.
Its authenticity is documented: Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Sales, in the chapter on selling fruit still on the trees for gold or silver, hadith no. 2190 and hadith no. 2382, and Muslim narrated it in the Book of Sales, in the chapter on the prohibition of selling fresh dates for dried dates except in the case of araya, hadith no. 1541, from the hadith of Malik through this chain. It is also found in the Muwatta (Yahya's recension), 2/620, and in Al-Kubra, hadith no. 6132.
