The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade the sale of fruits until they ripen.Someone asked, "Messenger of Allah, what does ripening mean?"He replied, "Until they redden."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said, "Tell me, if Allah were to withhold the fruit, by what right would any of you take his brother's wealth?"
Bukhari related it in "Sales", chapter "If someone sells fruit before it shows signs of ripeness, etc.", hadith no. 2198, and Muslim in "Sharecropping", chapter "Waiving [payment for] crop damage", hadith no. 1555, from the hadith of Malik, with this wording. It is also found in Muwatta (Yahya) 2/618, and in Kubra, hadith no. 6117.
