Ibn Hazm reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Allah prescribed fifty prayers upon my ummah. I returned with that until I passed by Musa
.He asked, 'What has your Lord prescribed upon your ummah?'I said, 'He has prescribed fifty prayers upon them.'Musa said to me, 'Go back to your Lord
, for your ummah cannot bear that.'So I went back to my Lord
, and He reduced it by half. I returned to Musa and informed him.He said, 'Go back to your Lord, for your ummah cannot bear that.'So I went back to my Lord
, and He said, 'They are five, and they are fifty. The word with Me is not changed.'I returned to Musa, and he said, 'Go back to your Lord.'I said, 'I feel too shy before my Lord
.'"
