A man whose judgment was weak used to engage in trade, and his family came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Prophet of Allah, place him under interdiction."So the Prophet of Allah ﷺ called him and forbade him from trading.The man said, "Prophet of Allah, I cannot bear to give up trading."He replied, "When you make a sale, say, 'No deception.'"
أخبرنا يوسف بن حماد قال حدثنا عبد الأعلى عن سعيد عن قتادة
أن رجلا كان في عقدته ضعف كان يبايع وأن أهله أتوا النبي ﷺ فقالوا يا نبي الله احجر عليه فدعاه نبي الله ﷺ فنهاه فقال يا نبي الله إني لا أصبر عن البيع قال إذا بعت فقل لا خلابة
[Sahih] Reported by Tirmidhi, Book of Business Transactions, Chapter on What Has Been Said Regarding One Who Is Deceived in a Sale, no. 1250, from Yusuf bin Hammad Basri, with this chain, and he said, hasan sahih gharib. It is also found in Kubra, no. 6077. Ibn Jarud graded it sahih, no. 568, as did Hakim, 4/101, saying it meets the standard of the two Shaykhs, and Dhahabi agreed with him. The hadith has corroborating narrations in Bukhari and Muslim and others (see the previous hadith).Saeed is Ibn Abu Aruba, and Abdul-Ala is Ibn Abdul-Ala.
