I witnessed Ali bin Abu Talib, may Allah honor his face, on the day of Eid. He began with the prayer before the sermon and prayed without an adhan or iqamah. Then he said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbid anyone from keeping any of his sacrificial meat for more than three days."
أخبرنا يعقوب بن إبراهيم عن غندر قال حدثنا معمر قال حدثنا الزهري عن أبي عبيد مولى
شهدت علي بن أبي طالب كرم الله وجهه في يوم عيد بدأ بالصلاة قبل الخطبة ثم صلى بلا أذان ولا إقامة ثم قال سمعت رسول الله ﷺ ينهى أن يمسك أحد من نسكه شيئا فوق ثلاثة أيام
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Sacrifices, chapter on what may be eaten of the meat of sacrificial animals and what may be taken as provisions from it, 5573, and Muslim in the Book of Sacrifices, chapter clarifying what was prohibited regarding eating the meat of sacrificial animals, etc., 1969, from the hadith of Maamar, by the same route, and it is also in Kubra, 4513. Zuhri explicitly stated that he heard it directly, and Abu Ubayd's name is Saad bin Ubayd, the freedman of Ibn Azhar.
