Maymuna bint Harith reported,

Jibreel said to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, "We do not enter a house in which there is a dog or an image." The next morning, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered that dogs be killed, to the point that he even ordered the killing of small dogs.

أخبرنا كثير بن عبيد قال حدثنا محمد بن حرب عن الزبيدي عن الزهري قال أخبرني ابن السباق قال

أخبرتني ميمونة

أن رسول الله ﷺ قال له جبريل عليه السلام لكنا لا ندخل بيتا فيه كلب ولا صورة فأصبح رسول الله ﷺ يومئذ فأمر بقتل الكلاب حتى إنه ليأمر بقتل الكلب الصغير
