I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, "I send out my hunting dog."He said, "When you send your dog and pronounce the name of Allah, then eat what it catches. But if the dog has eaten from it, do not eat, for it caught it for itself. And if you send your dog and find another dog with it, do not eat, for you pronounced the name of Allah only over your own dog, not over the other."
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Wudu, chapter "If a dog drinks from a vessel belonging to one of you, he should wash it seven times," no. 175, and Muslim in the Book of Hunting and Slaughtered Animals, chapter on hunting with trained dogs and shooting, no. 3/1929, from the hadith of Shubah, with this same wording. It is also found in Al-Kubra, no. 4783.
