I said, "Messenger of Allah, during the days of ignorance we used to slaughter animals in Rajab, eating from them and feeding whoever came to us."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "There is no harm in that."Waki bin Udus said, "So I will never abandon it."
أخبرنا عمرو بن علي قال حدثنا عبد الرحمن قال حدثنا أبو عوانة عن يعلى بن عطاء عن وكيع بن عدس عن عمه
قلت يا رسول الله إنا كنا نذبح ذبائح في الجاهلية في رجب فنأكل ونطعم من جاءنا فقال رسول الله ﷺ لا بأس به قال وكيع بن عدس فلا أدعه
Sourcing, [its isnad is hasan]. Ahmad narrated it, 12/4, 13, from the hadith of Abu Awana al-Waddah, with the same wording. It is also in Sunan al-Kubra, hadith 4559, and Ibn Hibban graded it sahih, hadith 1067. Waki bin Adas is hasan al-hadith (Nail Maqsud, hadith 4731).
