Nabeesha reported,

A man called out to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "We used to offer the atirah sacrifice in Rajab during the days of ignorance. What do you command us to do?"He replied, "Slaughter it in whatever month you wish, show devotion to Allah , and feed people."The man said, "We also used to offer the firstborn of our livestock as a sacrifice during the days of ignorance."He said, "From every grazing herd, dedicate the firstborn. Then when it is old enough to bear loads, slaughter it and give its meat in charity. That is best."

أخبرنا أبو الأشعث أحمد بن المقدام قال حدثنا يزيد وهو ابن زريع قال أنبأنا خالد عن أبي المليح

نادى النبي ﷺ رجل فقال إنا كنا نعتر عتيرة يعني في الجاهلية في رجب فما تأمرنا قال اذبحوها في أي شهر كان وبروا الله عز وجل وأطعموا قال إنا كنا نفرع فرعا في الجاهلية قال في كل سائمة فرع حتى إذا استحمل ذبحته وتصدقت بلحمه فإن ذلك هو خير
