While we were standing with the Prophet ﷺ at Arafah, he said, "People, every household must offer an udhiyah and an atirah each year."Muaz said, "Ibn Awn used to offer the atirah. My own eyes saw him do so in Rajab."
أخبرنا عمرو بن زرارة قال حدثنا معاذ وهو ابن معاذ قال حدثنا ابن عون قال حدثنا أبو رملة قال أنبأنا
بينا نحن وقوف مع النبي ﷺ بعرفة فقال يا أيها الناس إن على أهل بيت في كل عام أضحاة وعتيرة قال معاذ كان ابن عون يعتر أبصرته عيني في رجب
Its chain of transmission is daif. Ibn Majah narrated it in the chapters on sacrifices, in the section on whether sacrifices are obligatory or not, hadith no. 3125, from the hadith of Muaz, through him. It is also found in al-Kubra, hadith no. 4550, and Tirmidhi graded it hasan, hadith no. 1518. The hadith that follows makes it unnecessary.
