The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "For a boy, two equivalent sheep are to be sacrificed, and for a Jariya, one sheep."
أخبرنا عبيد الله بن سعيد قال حدثنا سفيان قال قال عمرو عن عطاء عن حبيبة بنت ميسرة
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال عن الغلام شاتان مكافأتان وعن الجارية شاة
[Sahih] Reported by Abu Dawud, Sacrifices, chapter on aqeeqah, no. 2834, from the hadith of Sufyan bin Uyayna, with this chain, and by Humaydi, no. 347, and it is in Al-Kubra, no. 4542, and Ibn Hibban graded it sahih, no. 1060. Amr is Ibn Dinar, Ataa is Ibn Abu Rabah, and Umm Kurz is al-Khuzaiyyah.
