The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever is targeted unjustly for his wealth and fights back and is killed is a martyr." This is incorrect. The correct version is the hadith of Suayr bin al-Khims.
أخبرنا عمرو بن علي قال حدثنا يحيى بن سعيد قال حدثنا سفيان قال حدثني عبد الله بن حسن عن إبراهيم بن محمد بن طلحة أنه سمع
عن النبي ﷺ قال من أريد ماله بغير حق فقاتل فقتل فهو شهيد هذا خطأ والصواب حديث سعير بن الخمس
[Its chain of transmission is sahih] Abu Dawud narrated it in the Book of Sunnah, Chapter on Fighting Bandits, no. 4771, from the hadith of Yahya bin Saeed Qattan through this route, and it is also in Sunan al-Kubra, no. 3551. Tirmidhi, no. 1420, said it is hasan sahih.
