The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to urge people in his sermons to give charity and forbid the mutilation of bodies.
أخبرنا محمد بن المثنى قال حدثنا عبد الصمد قال حدثنا هشام عن قتادة
كان رسول الله ﷺ يحث في خطبته على الصدقة وينهى عن المثلة
[Sahih]. It is also in Kubra, hadith 3510. Bukhari also narrated it in the chapter on Maghazi, in the section on the story of Ukl and Uraynah, hadith 4192, from the hadith of Qatada, as a mursal balagh. This hadith has many corroborating narrations found in Abu Dawud, hadith 2667, and Ahmad 5/12, 20, and elsewhere.
