The verse concerning Muharabah was revealed about them, according to what was reported from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.
أخبرنا أحمد بن عمرو بن السرح قال أخبرني ابن وهب قال أخبرني عمرو بن الحارث عن سعيد بن أبي هلال عن أبي الزناد عن عبد الله بن عبيد الله
عن رسول الله ﷺ ونزلت فيهم آية المحاربة
[Its chain is daif] Abu Dawud narrated it in the Book of Hudud, chapter on what has been said concerning warfare (against Allah and His Messenger), hadith 4369, from the hadith of Ibn Wahb, with the same wording, and it is in al-Kubra, hadith 3504.Abdullah bin Ubaydullah was not deemed reliable by anyone other than Ibn Hibban, but the substance of the hadith has many corroborating witnesses, among them hadith 4051.
