I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, "Which sin is the greatest?"He replied, "Associating partners with Allah, that you set up a rival to Him. And that you commit adultery with your neighbor's wife. And that you kill your child for fear that he will eat with you out of poverty."Then Abdullah recited, "And those who do not invoke another god alongside Allah" [Furqan 25:68].Abu Abdul-Rahman said, this is an error, and what is correct is the version preceding it. The narration of Yazid here is mistaken, the correct narrator is Wasil, and Allah Most High knows best.
أخبرنا عبدة قال أنبأنا يزيد قال أنبأنا شعبة عن عاصم عن أبي وائل
سألت رسول الله ﷺ أي الذنب أعظم قال الشرك أن تجعل لله ندا وأن تزاني بحليلة جارك وأن تقتل ولدك مخافة الفقر أن يأكل معك ثم قرأ عبد الله {والذين لا يدعون مع الله إلها آخر} قال أبو عبد الرحمن هذا خطأ والصواب الذي قبله وحديث يزيد هذا خطأ إنما هو واصل والله تعالى أعلم
