Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Layla instructed me to ask Ibn Abbas about these two verses, "And whoever kills a believer intentionally, his recompense is Hell" [Nisa 4:93]. So I asked him, and he said, "Nothing has abrogated it."I also asked him about the verse, "And those who do not invoke another god alongside Allah, nor kill the soul which Allah has forbidden except by right" [Furqan 25:68]. He said, "This was revealed concerning the polytheists."
أخبرنا محمد بن المثنى قال حدثنا محمد قال حدثنا شعبة عن منصور
أمرني عبد الرحمن بن أبي ليلى أن أسأل ابن عباس عن هاتين الآيتين {ومن يقتل مؤمنا متعمدا فجزاؤه جهنم} فسألته فقال لم ينسخها شيء وعن هذه الآية {والذين لا يدعون مع الله إلها آخر ولا يقتلون النفس التي حرم الله إلا بالحق} قال نزلت في أهل الشرك
Muslim recorded it in the Tafsir, no. 18/3023, from Muhammad bin Muthanna (see the two preceding hadiths). Bukhari recorded it, no. 4764 (see the preceding hadith, from the hadith of Shubah, with the same wording). It is also found in Al-Kubra, no. 3465.
