His father took him, carrying him, to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Bear witness that I have given Numan such-and-such from my property."The Prophet ﷺ asked, "Have you given all your sons the like of what you have given Numan?"
أخبرنا محمد بن عبد الملك بن أبي الشوارب قال حدثنا يزيد وهو ابن زريع قال حدثنا داود عن الشعبي
انطلق به أبوه يحمله إلى النبي ﷺ قال اشهد أني قد نحلت النعمان من مالي كذا وكذا قال كل بنيك نحلت مثل الذي نحلت النعمان
Its isnad is sahih. Ibn Majah transmitted it in the Gifts chapter, section on a man giving a gift to his child, hadith no. 2375, from the hadith of Yazid bin Zuray, with this same wording. Muslim also transmitted it, hadith no. 17/1623 (see the earlier hadith no. 3702), from the hadith of Dawud bin Abu Hind, with this same wording, and it is also found in Kubra, hadith no. 6506. Bukhari transmitted it, hadith nos. 2587 and 2650, from the hadith of Shaybi, with this same wording.
