The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up when the verse "And warn your closest kinsmen" [Shuara 26:214] was revealed to him and said, "People of Quraysh, ransom yourselves from Allah, for I can avail you nothing against Allah. Sons of Abd Manaf, I can avail you nothing against Allah. Abbas bin Abdul-Muttalib, I can avail you nothing against Allah. Safiyyah, aunt of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, I can avail you nothing against Allah. Fatimah, ask of me whatever you wish, but I can avail you nothing against Allah."
أخبرنا محمد بن خالد قال حدثنا بشر بن شعيب عن أبيه عن الزهري قال أخبرني سعيد بن المسيب وأبو سلمة بن عبد الرحمن أن
قام رسول الله ﷺ حين أنزل عليه {وأنذر عشيرتك الأقربين} فقال يا معشر قريش اشتروا أنفسكم من الله لا أغني عنكم من الله شيئا يا بني عبد مناف لا أغني عنكم من الله شيئا يا عباس بن عبد المطلب لا أغني عنك من الله شيئا يا صفية عمة رسول الله ﷺ لا أغني عنك من الله شيئا يا فاطمة سليني ما شئت لا أغني عنك من الله شيئا
Bukhari transmitted it in Wasaya, chapter "Are women and children included among relatives?", hadith no. 2753, from the hadith of Shuayb bin Abu Hamza, through him, and it is also in Al-Kubra, hadith no. 6474.
