The Prophet ﷺ said, "None of you should urinate in the place where he bathes, for most whisperings of doubt come from that."
أخبرنا علي بن حجر قال أنبأنا ابن المبارك عن معمر عن الأشعث بن عبد الملك عن الحسن
عن النبي ﷺ قال لا يبولن أحدكم في مستحمه فإن عامة الوسواس منه
Hasan. Tirmidhi narrated it in the Book of Purification, the chapter on the dislike of urinating in the place of washing, hadith (21), from Ali bin Hajar with the same wording, and he said, "Gharib." Abu Dawud narrated it, hadith (27), and Ibn Majah, hadith (304), from the hadith of Mamar with the same wording. Ibn Hibban graded it sahih in Mawarid (1252), and Hakim did so as well, according to the criteria of the two Shaykhs, 197/1, 185, and Dhahabi agreed with him. Nawawi graded it hasan in Majmu, 91/2. The hadith is also found in Kubra (36).Hasan Basri was a mudallis, as Nasai stated in Siyar Alam Nubala, 74/7, and he transmitted it using the ambiguous formula ‘an. It has a sahih supporting narration, transmitted as mawquf, found in Bayhaqi, 98/12. The hadith also has other supporting narrations.
