Zamah had a slave-girl whom he used to have relations with, and he suspected another man of also having relations with her. She gave birth to a child resembling the man he suspected. Zamah died while she was still pregnant.Sawda mentioned this to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The child belongs to the bed. But veil yourself from him, Sawda, for he is not your brother."
أخبرنا إسحق بن إبراهيم قال أنبأنا جرير عن منصور عن مجاهد عن يوسف بن الزبير مولى لهم
كانت لزمعة جارية يطؤها هو وكان يظن بآخر يقع عليها فجاءت بولد شبه الذي كان يظن به فمات زمعة وهي حبلى فذكرت ذلك سودة لرسول الله ﷺ فقال رسول الله ﷺ الولد للفراش واحتجبي منه يا سودة فليس لك بأخ

[Its isnad is hasan] Hakim narrated it in 4/97 from the hadith of Ishaq bin Ibrahim, through the same chain, and graded it sahih, and Dhahabi agreed with him. It is also in Kubra, hadith no. 5679. Jareer is Ibn Abdul-Hameed, and Yusuf's hadith is hasan. Hafiz mentioned him in Fath al-Bari 12/37, and Ibn Turkmani, Hakim, and Dhahabi graded him sahih. Hasan.
