She wanted to buy Barirah, but the sellers stipulated that the right of clientage would remain with them. She mentioned this to the Prophet ﷺ, who said, "Buy her and free her, for the right of clientage belongs to the one who frees the slave."Some meat was brought, and it was said, "This is from what was given in charity to Barirah."He said, "It is charity for her and a gift for us."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave her the choice regarding her marriage, and her husband was a free man.
